For by Him were all things created, that are in Heaven,
and that are in the earth, visible and invisible,
whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:
all things were created by Him, and for Him.
Colossians 1:16
Through faith we understand that the worlds
were framed by the Word of God,
so that things which are seen
were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3
For the invisible things of Him
from the creation of the world are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even His Eternal power and Godhead;
so that they are without excuse:
Romans 1:20
With these scriptures in mind,
numbers would also be in the category of God's creation.
Numbers are very revealing in scripture
and each number has meaning(s) behind it.
Since I don't want you doing what this dog is doing below,
I will limit this topic considerably (chuckles).
One (1)
|
Unity, primacy; it marks the beginning (Genesis;1st book); all stand in need of Him and He needs no assistance from any; "In the beginning God"..."Seek ye first the kingdom of God..." First Commandment declares "Thou shalt have no other gods."
|
Two (2)
|
Incarnation; Division or Difference: 2nd Day.." let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it DIVIDE the waters from the waters." The second Adam being JESUS. Exodus (2nd book), we have oppressor and Deliverer; SON redeeming His people. The second of any number of things always bears upon it the stamp of difference, and generally of enmity... Abraham and Lot, Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau, Cain and Abel, Heaven and hell, good and evil.
|
Three (3)
|
Denotes Divine Perfection; Stands for that which is solid, real, substantial, complete, entire and Divine. Associated with the Godhead. The third person, the Holy Spirit. Leviticus (3rd book) we have the Spirit prescribing, ordering and empowering them for DIVINE worship. Also means RESURRECTION.
Perfection of Jesus offices..Prophet, Priest and King. Nature of man...Spirit,soul and body (complete).
|
Four (4)
|
Number of Creation. Material completeness; World number...''earth, air, fire, water''....''north, east, south, west''...''fall, winter, spring, summer''. Numbers (4th book) we have Wilderness with strivings, murmuring, rebellions and wanderings.
|
Five (5)
|
Number of Grace; Number of Redemption. Mans weakness supplemented by Divine strength (4 + 1)...David's five smooth stones but used only one.
|
Six (6)
|
It is the number of imperfection; the human number; the number of MAN as destitute of God, without God, without Christ. Man created on 6th day. The 6th Commandment relates to the worst sin-- murder.
The serpent was also created on the 6th day. Six is also connected with human labour. Six words used for man, 4 in OT and 2 in NT. The serpent has 6 names in the OT.
